The Waste Information Centre is a place for raising public awareness (amongst school groups and the general public) about waste-related issues and about Syctom’s waste treatment activities (a public service for the treatment and recovery of household waste from 82 municipalities in the Greater Paris area).

The scenography of the visit reflects the different areas in which participants find themselves on a daily basis, in order to reinforce the habits they can adopt to limit their waste production. Our approach is based on gamification, involving the creation of a fun booklet for younger children and an application for the general public. As the game goes on, the public become involved in the life of the ‘Bontris’ family, created specifically for the game, to help players see themselves in the future and make them feel less guilty about their own actions.

The permanent exhibition area is divided into four themed areas: ‘home’, ‘leisure’, ‘city’ and ‘work’. Each corner is equipped with accessories and clues to help visitors find the best practices. In the ‘City’ area, for example, visitors can learn about the different attitudes to adopt when shopping or buying ‘takeaway’ products. Through these 4 corners, the public learns about small everyday gestures that help to limit waste.

Enfin, un mur interactif tactile permet d’en apprendre d’avantage sur les différents parcours des déchets et découvrir les alternatives pour recycler au maximum.

In the Workshop, school groups can exchange ideas with the activity leaders and discover new ways of consuming, ideas for various recipes they can take home, etc.

A ‘360°’ area is also available, where visitors can go behind the scenes of a sorting centre using a virtual reality headset.

Finally, a touch-sensitive interactive wall allows visitors to learn more about the different routes taken by waste and discover alternatives for getting the most out of recycling.

The entire set has been designed to minimise ecological impact and waste: recycled materials, sustainable fittings, eco-friendly paints, second-hand accessories, screen printing, etc.
